Welcome to the Department of Public Safety
The Department of Public Safety at West Virginia State University is a full service law enforcement agency exercising arrest powers. Our staff is fully committed and dedicated to maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, faculty, employees, and visiting public. The department consists of a Director and nine certified academy trained police officers, occasionally augmented by contracted security personnel that perform non-law enforcement functions. Public Safety Officers provide 24 hours per day, 365 days per year coverage. We are part of the Administrative Services area.
